Online student hackathon "Hack the shadow economy in E-commerce"

In the period from 14.05.21-16.05.21, the first virtual hackathon for reducing the shadow economy in e-commerce was held, organized by AETM, in cooperation with FINKI and the Faculty of Economics – Skopje. Ten teams composed of students from the Faculty of Economics, Skopje and FINKI worked on creative solutions answering one of the two set challenges.

The challenge was divided into two categories, and each team created a solution for one of them:

Winning solutions from the hackathon

After 48 hours of work by the teams who were mentored by 18 mentors from the private sector, the academy, as well as the IRS and Customs Administration institutions, the students presented their solutions to the jury committee composed of Dr. Nina Angelovska, President of AETM, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Trajanov, from FINKI and Prof. Doctor – Ezheni Brzovska, from the Faculty of Economics – Skopje. After evaluation by the jury, three winning teams were announced whose concept solutions consisted of:

#1 WINNING SOLUTION – PROVERIPRODAVNICA.COM

proveriprodavnica.com is a web extension for the Google Chrome browser that automatically checks the validity of a specific e-store according to the e-merchants registry. The creators of this solution are TEAM – ECONOMY SOLUTIONS, which is composed of five students from FINKI and the Faculty of Economics Skopje:

#2 WINNING SOLUTION – NATAPET.MK

natapet.mk – a web platform where you can read and leave reviews for e-traders in order to inform e-buyers about the validity and integrity of e-shops in Macedonia. The creators of this solution are TEAM – HALFPACE, four students from FINKI and the Faculty of Economics Skopje:

#3 WINNING SOLUTION – PROVERIPAKUPI.MK

proveripakupi.mk –register of all registered e-shops with categorization for easy navigation and checking of registered e-traders. The creators of this solution are TEAM – ECONOMY DEBUGGERS, which is composed of four students from FINKI and the Faculty of Economics Skopje
A prize fund of 3,000 euros was provided for the winning solutions, which served for their implementation.

Results achieved with the initiative:

50 students took part and have a strengthened awareness of the harmfulness of the gray economy for the development of society;
Created 3 student solutions that will contribute to addressing the gray economy in e-commerce.

This initiative was implemented with the help of the private sector
